1 year anniversary

6/16/08 was our 1 year anniversary! We've done super fancy dinners for past special occasions so we decided to go low key this time and have dinner at The Melting Pot; we did the 4 course dinner for two and got a bottle of champagne and year old wedding pie was dessert. We had pie instead of cake at our wedding so of course we had to freeze a pie to eat on our 1st anniversary! Let me just say, pie does not freeze very well. I set the pie out a couple days ago to try and let it defrost and then I stuck it in the oven at 350 degrees for about 20 min. That really didn't work too well because the middle was still cold, but Eric and I both took a bite for good luck and then threw the rest out. A silly (and sometimes gross) tradition, but it just had to be done!

I'm usually really into giving/getting gifts for dating anniversaries, but for some reason Eric and I were both not really into doing gifts for our 1st wedding anniversary. I know the typical 1st anniversary gift is supposed to be paper or something like that, so I did a card and that was it. We're actually going to Las Vegas tomorrow for his cousin's wedding, so we sort of feel like Vegas is our anniversary trip. We're planning to ditch the family for an evening and do a nice dinner or see a show or something. I always hated when married couples would buy a refrigerator or a washer and dryer and call it their gifts to each other, but now I kind of get it and I'm starting to lean more in that direction. It gets harder to think of unique and fabulous gifts for everything special occasion and birthday, so our future in joint gift giving is looking pretty good.
