new carpet

Early this summer I posted that we were going to install laminate flooring in the main rooms of our condo. Well, after much thought and just not having enough time to do it in the last few months we finally came to the conclusion that we actually wanted new carpet instead.

Laminate seemed like a great idea in the summer when it's warm and nice out...but as the weather turned colder it became more and more clear that a hard surface floor like laminate wouldn't be right for a city that is cold and damp most of the year. I quickly made an appointment with a carpet company and this past Saturday we had new carpet installed throughout the condo. (I took before and after pictures but don't have them with me today; I'll post them as soon as possible)

We went with Empire Today (you've probably seen their commercials) and chose a middle of the road, regular carpet in the color Wet Sand. It's a bit more brown than I expected, but it looks great and we're both really happy with the whole experience. The next step is tiling the kitchen, bathrooms and laundry closet; Eric's parents are planning to come over in the next 2-4 weeks to help with that.
