dallas

Eric and I spent most of the Thanksgiving week in Dallas, TX. We flew over on Tuesday morning and came back late Friday night; we stayed at Hotel Indigo - a cute boutique hotel in the heart of downtown. Our main reason for heading to Dallas was the Thanksgiving Day Seahawk vs. Cowboys game, but we did/saw a ton of other stuff while we were there...

Tuesday - we just walked around and checked out downtown Dallas. We stopped in at a couple bars and walked to find the 6th Floor Museum (where JFK was assassinated) and the Dallas World Aquarium. Staying downtown was a great idea because we just walked everywhere (except for the game) a didn't have to worry about a rental car or cabs.

Wednesday - we went to the Dallas World Aquarium and the 6th Floor Museum (JFK). I absolutely LOVE aquariums and Dallas has a great one! As we expected, there were a ton of families and little kids running around, but we both had a great time!

The JFK museum was a very good but hard experience. They give everyone headsets and the entire museum is done through an audio guided tour. The audio tour was a great idea because there were thousands of people at the museum and it would be nearly impossible to move crowds through without someone telling constantly prompting you to go to the next area. Seeing pictures and videos about JFK's life and family, his assassination, and "alleged" shooter was kind of upsetting to me. I held back tears most of the time because all I could think about was how scary and horrible it must have been to be there and witness and experience such a tragedy. They don't allow any photography in the museum so we have no pictures.

Thursday (Thanksgiving!) - The Seahawk vs. Cowboys game was at 3:30pm Dallas time, so we headed over to Texas Stadium at 2ish and we had to take a cab because the stadium is out in the middle of nowhere. As we approached, Eric and I were both looking really hard for any sign of another Seahawk fan and as expected were few and far between. Tens of thousands of Cowboys fans poured into the stadium and one of them stopped and asked if we would take a picture with him (he said he gets a picture with the visiting team fans every year, he was very nice). We found our seats and stayed put for a while watching both teams warm up before the game.

The Seahawks are pretty horrible this year and there was definitely no Thanksgiving magic, so we went home losers.

Friday - Before our evening flight home we checked out the Dallas Museum of Art. The museum is absolutely HUGE and it was kind of hard to get through everything without taking a break (I can't imagine how a little kid could ever behave a whole day in a museum because it was kind of hard for me and I love art).

Overall our Dallas trip was a wonderful time and a super great vacation!!!
